Woman's Club scholars
The Dunwoody Woman’s Club scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors based on scholarship, leadership, character and service.
At a recent meeting, the Club presented scholarship awards to DeKalb residents Mary Pate Mills and Nicole Morrison.
Ms. Morrison is a recent graduate of Dunwoody High School and will be attending the University of Southern California. She is the daughter of Caren and Jim Morrison.
She won the Coca-Cola Academic Award at the end of her junior year for earning the highest GPA in her class. She was on the varsity swim team for three years, in the National Honor Society for two, and on the Student Government Association for four years.
Ms. Mills recently graduated from the Wesleyan School in Norcross and will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall. She is the daughter of Sloane and John Mills of Atlanta-DeKalb.
While at Wesleyan, Ms. Mills took the maximum number of AP courses allowed each year.
Her activities during high school included the varsity cross country team, including the head captain of the team during her senior year.
Amanda Wolkin of North Springs High School in Sandy Springs also won the award, which totaled $1,200 apiece paid directly to the university the winners will attend.

Mercer graduate
Amanda L. McMillan of Decatur earned the Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University’s School of Medicine during the school’s commencement on May 8 on the university’s Macon campus. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred the degree.
Choate graduate
Luis Torres of Atlanta was among 251 seniors at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn., to graduate at the school’s 120th Commencement on June 6. Torres plans to attend Oglethorpe University in the fall.
Choate Rosemary Hall is an independent secondary school enrolling 850 boarding and day students.
Javelin scholarships
Javelin Technical Training Centers Inc. has announced the winners of its 2010 High School Scholarships.
First place scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, was awarded to Shannon Graham of Stone Mountain, a graduate of Stephenson High School. Second place scholarship winners included Margarita Fitz of Tucker, a graduate of Tucker High School, who received $1,000 from the center.
Mercer dean’s list
The following area students were named to the president’s or dean’s list of their college or school at Mercer University for the Spring 2010 semester. Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards specific to their school within the University.

Agnes Scott honors
Three Agnes Scott College students — Lucia Hulsether, Natalie Stadnick and Chelsea Gunther — have received fellowships and awards designed to help them further their education and experiences in the field of religion.
Ms. Hulsether and Ms. Stadnick, both class of 2011 at Agnes Scott, have received a 2010 Fund for Theological Education Undergraduate Fellowship, which recognizes student leaders who are exploring ministry as a vocation.
Ms. Guenther, Agnes Scott class of 2010, was one of nine students representing six colleges and universities affiliated with the Presbyterian Church to receive the 2010 Samuel Robinson Award. The award also includes $500 for the college to use for faith initiatives on campus.
