Firooz Israel (right), a member of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC) gets his copy of Start Up Nation signed by author Dan Senor

The AICC brought acclaimed author Dan Senor to Atlanta as its special guest at a fundraising event benefitting the American-Israel Education Institute. Senor, author of Start Up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle, the best-selling book about Israel’s growth as a global center of entrepreneurial innovation, discussed the book and how and why Israel has become the most successful country in the world at starting new technology-based companies. The event was held on February 25 at the Ahavath Achim (AA) Synagogue.

Dan Senor is a senior foreign policy expert with an extensive background in policy, politics, and business in the Middle East. He was awarded the highest civilian honor by the Pentagon, where he served as both an adviser to the Central Command in Qatar and to the U.S. Senate. He studied in Israel and at Harvard Business School.

New York Times bestseller Start Up Nation explores how Israel – a country of 7.1 million, only 60 years old, surrounded by enemies, in a constant state of war since its founding, and with no natural resources – produces more start-up companies than large, peaceful and stable nations like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada and the UK. The book talks about how Israel has, per person, attracted over twice as much venture capital investment as the U.S. and thirty times more than Europe.
