Lakeside captured its seventh straight sweep at the DeKalb County Swimming and Diving Championships held January 28 and 30.

The boys won the overall championship by a wide margin over Dunwoody, 247-181. The girls championship was slightly closer, as Lakeside won 245-219. However, it was not as close as lasty ear's one point win for the Vikings.

The Vikings were paced by junior swimmer Jack Lane on the boys' side, as he won gold in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle relay team and finished second as part of Lakeside's 200-yard medley relay team.

On the girls' side, Lakeside's Annie Kelly won gold in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke. Meanwhile, Lakeside freshman Kenzie Bentz won the gold in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

On the diving board, DeKalb had eight state qualifying divers, though two of them were disqualified for not having a high enough degree of difficulty according to Lakeside coach Tricia Newmyer.

On the girls' side, Lakeside's Rebecca Boyer won the county championship with 443.25 points to set a new DeKalb record. Dunwoody's Jenny Luehring finished second with 361.1 points to qualify for the state championship, while Chamblee's Jesse Bragg finished third with 311 points, but did not meet the required degree of difficulty.

On the boys' side, Dunwoody's Scott Cantey and Adam Julien finished first and second, though Julien did not qualify for state due to his degree of difficulty being too low. Lakeside's Michael Pierece finished third, while Tucker's Hunter Dutton and Chamblee's Benton Oliver each qualified for the state championship.

Outside of Lakeside and Dunwoody, Druid Hills' boys 200-yard medley relay won the gold medal over Lakeside. Druid Hills' Addison Lange won gold in the 50-yard freestyle by edging Lakeside's Chris Hulsey, as well as, the 50-yard breaststroke. Chamblee senior Max Mitchell won the 100-yard freestyle by nearly three second over the next closest finisher in the pool. Mitchell also won gold in the 100-yard backstroke.

Druid Hills' Mary Kate Leary also won two gold medals, as she won in 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
